A pal of mine read the Vietnamese odyssey Catfish Mandala and emailed me this;

There are not many writings of travel literature that mainly focus on Vietnam but lately I’ve been especially interested in learning and reading about the Vietnam War, the country’s particular type of communism and the economic changes that are rapidly taking place from Ho Chi Minh City to hanoi.

Further to my learning about the Vietnam War, this book was as good a start to begin my quest to really understand this period of time in Vietnam.
